Hawaii State FCU Donates $20,000 to Friends of the Library of Hawaii Ahead of Annual Booksale

HONOLULUHawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU) has donated $20,000 to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii ahead of the 73rd Annual Booksale which will return after a two-year hiatus from June 11-19, 2022. As a title sponsor of the booksale, Hawaii State FCU members are invited to attend a Members’ Preview Sale on June 10, 2022 from 4-8 p.m.

“After two long years, we are excited to officially welcome back Hawaii’s largest used book sale. This annual event means a lot to our community and members, and Hawaii State FCU is proud to be a sponsor,” said Andrew Rosen, president and CEO of Hawaii State FCU. “All of the money raised during our Hawaii State FCU Members’ Preview night will directly benefit The Friends of the Library of Hawaii and their mission to maintain free public libraries across the state.”

Since 2013, Hawaii State FCU has donated nearly $220,000 to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii and has raised an additional $87,000 in sales at the Annual Booksale through Hawaii State FCU’s members’ preview nights.

“We are thankful to Hawaii State FCU for their continued support over the years of Hawaii’s public libraries,” said Nainoa Mau, executive director of The Friends of the Library of Hawaii. “After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re happy to be able to bring back this highly anticipated island tradition.”

The 73rd Annual Booksale will be held at Ward Village in the former Pier1 Store location and will feature more than 100,000 books in every category. The Booksale will also offer a selection of CDs, DVDs, comics and manga, as well as an eclectic selection of donated art, including modern art, prints from local artists, lithographs, and sculptures.The event will be open to the general public from June 11-19, 2022.
