Scholarship Program

Applications for Our 2021 Lowell Kalapa Scholarship Program will be accepted November 16, 2020 through February 1, 2021.
Since 1996, the Hawaii State FCU Lowell Kalapa Scholarship Program has awarded nearly $800,000 to some of Hawaii’s best and brightest students to support their efforts to pursue a higher education.
The Application Process
Once again, the Hawaii Community Foundation has been selected to administer the Lowell Kalapa Scholarship Program. Interested applicants may apply directly through Hawaii Community Foundation’s website.

Eligibility and Requirements for Application Submission
Eligibility
• Open to Hawaii State FCU members and their dependents
• Must attend a fully accredited university, college or trade/vocational school in the 2021-2022 school year
• Must demonstrate financial need
• Must attend as a full-time student (as determined by your school’s financial aid office)
• May apply as an Undergraduate or Graduate degree-seeking student
• Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
Required Materials
• Personal Statements and Award Impact Statement
• Official Transcripts and Cumulative GPA
• 2021-2022 Student Aid Report (SAR)
• List of Achievements and Community Service
• Letters of Recommendation (optional)
How to Apply:
To apply, log into the Scholarship Manager via the Hawaii Community Foundation website to begin your 2021-2022 Common Application.
Important: In order to be considered for the Lowell Kalapa Scholarship, you must indicate that you are a Hawaii State FCU member in the “Affiliation Questions” section of the Common Application. If you are a dependent of a member, please include the member’s name and your relation to the member in the “Details” field.
Deadline:
Complete and submit your application and all supporting materials by February 1, 2021 at 4 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time.

Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF) is the third-largest scholarship provider in the state with over $4.5 million available for scholarships and over 200 individual scholarship funds. By completing Hawaii Community Foundation’s online Common Application, its software will automatically search for all scholarships that a student may be eligible for.
