Internet Privacy Statement

Thank you for visiting the Hawaii State FCU website. Confidentiality and respect for privacy is a hallmark of Hawaii State FCU. Because we are committed to protecting your privacy, we will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our website, unless you choose to provide such information to us, such as in applications, forms, inquiries, or other submissions. The information we receive varies, depending upon what you do while visiting our website.

This Internet Privacy Statement applies to visits to our website without using digital banking. Use of digital banking services are governed by our Website and Digital Banking Services Terms and Conditions.

Email

You may send us general email messages by contacting us at memberservices@hsfcu.com. Do not include any personal or confidential information in any email that you send to us. Email is NOT SECURE. Never email your account number, PIN, password, username, other access code, or social security number.

If you have an important message for us that is time-sensitive (for example, if you want to report a lost or stolen ATM card or credit card, if you want to stop payment on a check, or if you have other information which requires prompt action), do not rely on email, as we may not check our email messages regularly. Please note we will never contact you by email, text, telephone, mail, or other type of correspondence and request your PIN, password, username, or other access code. If you are contacted by anyone asking for your PIN, password, username or other access code, you should refuse and immediately contact us. You may be the target of identity theft.

External Websites

We may provide links to external websites with third party services and products. External websites are not under our control and may have different data-collection, privacy and security policies. We do not provide information about you through the links; however, using the links may identify you as a Hawaii State FCU member to the external website operators. Hawaii State FCU is not responsible for the content or accuracy of any information contained in external websites. Please review the terms and conditions of external websites and third party services and products carefully. Cookies

Our website software uses cookies to collect and store only the information about your visit to our website, which includes:

  • The Internet domain and IP address (the number automatically assigned to your computer while on the web) from which you access our website.
  • The date and time you access our website.
  • The pages you visit and the result of the request.

A cookie is a small data file that certain websites place on your hard drive when you visit them. We use cookies to help us determine whether you are a first time or a return visitor and the usefulness of our website. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the website uses to track the pages that you have visited.

The only personal information our cookie can contain is information you supply yourself; that personal information is stored only on your hard drive and is not collected or stored by us. Our cookie cannot read data off your hard drive or read cookie files created by other websites.

For website management, we collect information for internal statistical purposes. A software program is used to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing the number of visitors to our website, what information is of most or least interest, determining design specifications and identifying system performance.

How User Data is Handled

User data is collected as follows:

  • Location – Geofencing and beacon scanning essential for advertising/marketing campaign delivery are used.
  • UserID – A random user GUID is created upon initial app access, which is later used during every connection. This GUID is unique for each device/app and changes after every app reinstall. This ID is used for identifying a user and sending campaigns.
  • Product Interaction – Users app entry, app exit, and pages viewed are tracked within the app.
  • Personal Information – If you provide personal information to us in applications, forms, inquiries, or other submissions, we may collect such information and use it in response to your submission.

Apps periodically collects, transmits, and uses geolocation information for enabling features that prevent fraudulent card use and alerts, but only if the End User expressly authorizes collection of such information. Geolocation information can be monitored on a continuous basis in the background only while the Solution is being used or not at all, depending on the End User’s selection. The End User can change his/her/their location permissions at any time in their device settings.

Website and Digital Banking

Members may enroll and log in to Digital Banking for additional information regarding safety, security, and other important matters with respect to our website and digital banking services.

Website Security

For website security, we employ software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or otherwise cause damage to our system. ANY UNAUTHORIZED ATTEMPT TO CHANGE INFORMATION ON THIS WEBSITE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED BY LAW AND IS SUBJECT TO PROSECUTION UNDER THE COMPUTER FRAUD AND ABUSE ACT OF 1986, 18 USC §§ 1001 AND 1030.
