Hawaii State FCU Opens First Safeway Branch on Oahu

March 25, 2022

HONOLULUHawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU) celebrated the opening of its first in-store branch located at Safeway Kapahulu on Oahu. The credit union will open three additional branches inside Safeway stores on Oahu and Maui this year, including Safeway Hawaii Kai, Safeway Kailua and Safeway Kihei. The Hawaii Kai Branch at Safeway and the Kihei Branch at Safeway are slated to open this spring.

“The opening of our first Safeway branch is a significant step for Hawaii State FCU as we look to expand our presence across Oahu and Maui to provide more convenient options to bank with us,” said Andrew Rosen, president and CEO of Hawaii State FCU. “All of our new Safeway branches will feature an open-concept layout incorporating our innovative self-service technology. Our goal is to offer choice and flexibility with easy-to-use self-service options for account access as well as knowledgeable branch staff to recommend the right products to help reach your financial goals.”

The Kapahulu Branch at Safeway offers a full range of products and financial services, including mortgage loans and investment services. The branch currently features two Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs), an innovative self-service solution, which combines the traditional functionality of a standard ATM while giving the customer the option to independently complete majority of the transactions typically handled by a teller. The branch will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

To commemorate the opening of the Kapahulu Branch at Safeway, Hawaii State FCU will be presenting a $3,000 check donation to the Waikiki Community Center.

“The Waikiki Community Center has continued to provide vital health and human services to our kupuna and keiki in need for over 40 years. We applaud and support their efforts to enrich and enhance the lives of those in the surrounding community,” added Rosen.

Hawaii State FCU currently has 11 branch locations across Oahu and one branch in Kahului, Maui. The Hawaii Kai Branch at Safeway and the Kihei Branch at Safeway are slated to open in spring 2022 and will feature the same products and services as the Kapahulu Branch. The Kihei Branch will be the credit union’s second branch on the island of Maui.
