Hawaii State FCU Opens Queen Street Branch in Downtown Honolulu
HONOLULU – Hawaii State Federal Credit Union (Hawaii State FCU), Hawaii’s largest credit union lender, has opened its Queen Street Branch in Downtown Honolulu, a pop-up location that will serve as an experimental hub to test new technologies and customer experiences while still assisting members with their financial needs. The branch is located at 333 Queen Street which is the future site of the credit union’s new headquarters.
“While our Queen Street Branch is temporary, it will provide the framework for a larger, permanent branch which will be developed as plans for our new headquarters take shape,” said Andrew Rosen, president & CEO of Hawaii State FCU. “We’re taking the all-digital servicing concept to the next level and utilizing this space to test new products and further conceptualize what our future branches are going to look like.”
As a technology-driven branch, the 400-square-foot space includes two Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) and an interactive touch-screen display. Roaming member specialists will be equipped with tablets integrated with the credit union’s core systems, to allow typical banking transactions without the need for traditional teller pods. The credit union will use the space to test new technologies for future implementation at other branch locations. The Queen Street Branch is now open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Hawaii State FCU was the first financial institution in the state to feature ITMs with the opening of its two newest branches in Salt Lake and Ewa Beach in 2019. The credit union is also the first in the nation to equip their ITMs with palm vein-based biometric authentication, which is one of the most technologically advanced security features on the market.
Hawaii State FCU membership is open to all active and retired employees of the State of Hawaii, City and County of Honolulu and Maui County. In addition, employees and members of more than 300 local organizations and businesses can qualify individuals to become credit union members.
